2017 Geodynamics Program
Ocean Ridges & Mantle Dynamics!
For this year’s program, Geodynamics returns, after many years, to the study of the formation of the ocean crust and its relationship to mantle circulation. It is anticipated that this will cover the architecture of the ocean crust and how it varies with spreading rate, and tectonic environment, ridge tectonics, the geochemical evolution of the Earth’s mantle and how this is expressed at accretionary plate boundaries. This will include a broad range of disciplinary approaches from fluid dynamic to brittle tectonics, micro fabrics and rock deformation, melt migration, melt-rock reaction, the seismic structure of the ocean crust and mantle.
